Restoration Love Songs. Edited by John Hadfield. With decorations by Rex Whistler. (Preston, Hertfordshire): The Cupid Press 1950. First edition. Limited to 660 copies printed in Fell types on Arnold & Foster's mould-made paper at the University Press, Oxford, by Charles Batey, printer to the University. The callotype decorations were made from drawings by Whistler. A distinguished association copy, being a presentation copy from the editor/publisher to the printer, inscribed on the colophon page: "For Charles Batey . . . from Publisher to Printer in gratitude - John Hadfield, Christmas 1950." The imprint at the back of the book testifies to Batey's role in printing the book. With Batey's booklabel, noting his status as "Printer Emeritus to the University of Oxford", on the front end-sheet. 8vo, folding frontispiece illustration, original cloth-backed marbled boards with printed label on spine.
