According to a bibliographical note in the book, “A few of these poems have appeared before in books and periodicals”, implying that there are new poems in this collection, of which there was no equivalent English edition. In Aldington’s preface, a letter from Aldington to F. S. Flint, he states: “Here I have written less for myself and you and others who are interested in subtleties and more for the kind of men I lived with in camp and in the line. . . . in intention at least, this is a book by a common soldier for common soldiers.”. 8vo, original paper over boards, printed paper labels, dust jacket. Very light wear at spine ends, faint offset from jacket flaps on endpapers, bookplate on front pastedown, otherwise a fine, clean copy in the rare dust jacket, which bears a printed price of $1.25 on the spine (there was a later issue with a new price sticker), with a small closed tear in the back panel.
